Pirate Night at the Express
On Monday night, Rhys's baseball team received a special treat. Coach Rick and team-mom extraordinaire Meghan arranged for the kids to go out on the field and meet the players. It was such an amazing experience for them!
They lined up near the Express dugout waiting for the players to be announced. While they waited, the players would walk by and give the kids high fives and many would sign their baseballs.
When the players were announced, the kids got to run out on the field to their usual playing position and stand next to the Express player on the field.
The kids had a chance to talk to the players and have them sign their baseballs. Rhys stood with left fielder Brian Bogusevic.
He stayed on the field with him until after the signing of the National Anthem.
Then they put their hats back on...
...and were ready for the game to begin.
The game was spent in some combination of watching, cheering, and playing a mini-game of baseball on the berm.
Coach Ivan had a little end-of-the-season ceremony for the kids, and he gave each one a game ball and a special award.
Rhys was named "Most Reliable" because he could be counted on to work hard and play well, no matter what position they put him in. Can't beat that!

Great post for a great night. It was great that Bogusevic had a huge night - Rhys felt responsible for his success. :D
