After quickly dumping our stuff off at Heather's, we were ready to hit the town. Heather lives across from a bus and train station too, so it was very easy to hop on a bus and head toward Union Square.
We accidently missed our stop, but we realized it just one stop later and got off the bus in Chinatown. It was neat to see the Chinese writing everywhere and laundry hanging from apartment windows. It struck us how culturally different the Bay area is compared to the Austin area.
We headed back toward Union Square through a tunnel, and when we got through to the other side, it was hard to believe Chinatown was such a short distance away. We were instantly in a huge shopping district with huge buildings, palm trees, department stores and restaurants.
We walked a bit, admiring the sights and sounds of the big city before stopping for lunch.
